What is Gout?
A complex form of arthritis
Gout is caused by a buildup of microscopic uric acid crystals inside a joint. It is an internal inflammatory response.
- Symptoms: Sudden, severe attacks of intense pain, swelling, redness, and joints that are hot to the touch.
- Location: Usually strikes the joint at the base of the big toe, but can affect ankles, knees, or wrists.
- Treatment: Dietary changes, medications to lower uric acid levels, and anti-inflammatory drugs.
What is Foot Fungus?
A skin infection (Athlete's Foot)
Foot fungus (tinea pedis) is caused by dermatophytes (fungi) thriving in warm, moist environments. It lives on the outside of the skin.
- Symptoms: Itching, stinging, burning, and scaly, cracked, or peeling skin.
- Location: Usually begins between the toes or spreads along the soles of the feet.
- Treatment: Over-the-counter or prescription topical antifungal creams, powders, and sprays.
